Cardinal LB Meinert Dies At 70

Former St. Louis Cardinal linebacker Dale Meinert has died at the age of 70 after a long bout with Alzheimer’s Disease. Meinert played in Canada for three seasons before the Cardinals took him in 1958 and used him as an offensive guard. In 1960, the team moved to St. Louis and Meinert moved to linebacker and became a star player. He was the team’s most valuable player in 1961 and was a Pro-Bowl selection in 1963, ’65 and ’67. He died in Clinton, Oklahoma.
