A plan for a downtown arena will be proposed today in Kansas City. Billionaire Phillip Anschutz, who is a 1961 graduate of Kansas University, is interested in a significant financial investment if such an arena is built. He is also the owner of the Staples Center, which houses the Los Angeles Lakers. The proposal calls for an 18,500-20,000 seat arena to be built at 14th and Grand Boulevard in downtown Kansas City. It’s projected to cost around $250-million.
