Holden Questions Role Of Missouri Military Personnel In Iraq

May 11, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Bob Holden has sent a letter to President George W. Bush raising his concerns of the use of Missouri National Guardsmen as drivers for a civilian contractor in Iraq. While Holden blasts the practice as a “wrongful use of U.S. Army personnel,” Adjutant General Dennis Shull says he’s more concerned about the kind of training his soldiers are receiving for that type of situation. Shull says he’s not trying to stir up a political controversy with the letter. He says he’s just trying to answer a concern of a family member back at home. The unit in question is the 1221st Transportation Company based out of Jefferson City, now deployed to Iraq.
