The road continues to be an unfriendly place for the Royals. On Wednesday, they found themselves in an early hole and failed to find a way out in a 10-3 loss in Toronto. Brian Anderson allowed seven runs in the first two innings—six in the second inning alone—and was charged with 10 runs in four-plus innings. Vernon Wells did the most damage with two home runs and five RBI’s. In the fifth inning, Wells hit his second shot of the night and Carlos Delgado followed up with a base hit. Josh Phelps, was up next and hit one over the fences to make it 10-0. It also marked the end of Anderson’s outing. The Royals’ runs came in the form of a Matt Stairs home run in the sixth and RBI singles from Joe Randa and Carlos Beltran in the seventh. The Royals are now 2-12 away from Kauffman Stadium, which is the worst road record in baseball this season.
