Wanda Mae Holden, the mother of Governor Bob Holden, has died after a long illness at her home in Birch Tree. She was 77. Mrs. Holden was a native of Kansas City and moved to the farm in southern Missouri after marrying Robert Lee Holden in 1948. She is survived by her husband, three sons – Governor Holden, Judge Calvin Holden of Springfield, and Steven Holden, an attorney from Tulsa – and her daughter Cynthia Anne Holden-Hartman, an educator in Carrollton, as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at the Holden farm near Birch Tree.
