Governor Bob Holden stands by his decision to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in state funding to schools and several other state programs nearly a year ago. At the time, he called Republican estimates of five percent revenue growth too optimistic. Those Republican numbers held up, and Holden released the last of the money last week. The Governor says he was thrown off by national revenue numbers that indicated much lower growth. Holden says he still trusts his budget planning staff and feels the conservative approach to revenue figures was still the right path to take.
