House Speaker Catherine Hanaway says she is working to find enough votes to override Governor Bob Holden’s veto of litigation reform. She admits that, so far, she hasn’t picked up any. Hanaway says she will press the override attempt, even if it seems doomed to fail. Hanaway says the crisis facing doctors is too great not to at least try. The Holden Administration says the Legislature went too far in its bill and has produced studies claiming that medical malpractice awards have come down. The Administration blames insurance companies for the rising rates.
