Ken Harvey’s a big dude. AT 6-2 240 lbs., he probably doesn’t like running around the bases any more than he really has to. But last night, he was probably more than happy to make that trot twice in one at bat as the Royals beat the Rangers 5-3 at Kauffman Stadium. With the score tied 1-1 fifth inning Harvey hit a drive down the left-field line, which was ruled home run. Texas manager Buck Showalter argued the call, claiming it was a foul ball. After the umpires discussed the play, the home run was overturned and three runs were taken off the scoreboard. Harvey then jumped on the next pitch, sending it over the wall in left center and the Royals led again, 4-1. Jimmy Gobble lasted five and a third innings to get his first win of the season. He worked around 10 hits to get the win and Mike MacDougal got his first save of the year, despite allowing a hit and a run in the ninth.
