The Royals lost their second straight game, falling to the Indians 6-1. Jeremy Affledt’s return to the starting rotation proved to be a frustrating affair. Affeldt was fine until there were two outs—five of the six runs he allowed came with two down. Ronnie Belliard and Omar Vizquel drove in runs with two-out doubles and Casey Blake had a two-out RBI single and home run. Coco Crisp hit a two-out triple and scored on Affeldt’s balk. Kansas City’s only score came in the fourth inning on Matt Stair’s sacrifice fly. The Royals had just six base runners on Thursday afternoon. Jeff D’Amico got the win for Cleveland allowing four hits and one run in seven innings.
