Carlos Beltran had a chance to be the ninth-inning hero for the Royals again. On Monday, his two run ended the game, giving the Royals win on opening day. Yesterday, Beltran came to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with Angel Berroa on first and the Royals trailing 4-3. This time, he popped up and Kansas City lost. Darrell May was touched for four runs off three home runs and got the loss in five innings of work. Miguel Olivo gave Chicago a 2-0 lead with a two run shot in the second inning. In the fifth Maglio Ordonez and Carlos Lee hit solo home runs to make it 4-1. Aaron Guiel’s home run in the bottom of the inning made it 4-2 and Beltran made it 4-3 with a fielder’s choice that scored Guiel. May was tagged with the loss as the Royals and White Sox wrapped up two-game series. The Royals host the Indians for the first of four games this evening.
