Four Missouri medical schools are ranked among the top ten in the country for research or specialty areas. That’s the finding of a U.S. News and World Report survey. The magazine ranked Washington University in St. Louis number two on its list for research, behind Harvard University. Washington University has been in the top ten every year since the rankings began in 1987. Last year, it tied for second. Washington University also placed seventh for both internal medicine and pediatrics. The University of Missouri-Columbia came in second for family medicine and tied for ninth place on the list of top schools for primary care. Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville tied for tenth, along with MU, for rural medicine. Saint Louis University placed tenth for the best geriatrics program.
