Supreme Court Ruling On Parental Rights Challenged By SW Missouri Woman

April 1, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

A southwest Missouri woman challenging the state’s right to terminate her parental rights has lost an appeal to the State Supreme Court. Gloria Owens says two laws are unconstitutional. The court says she’s wrong. Owens is the mother of nine children. The state removed the five youngest ones from her mobile home in 1999, charging they had been neglected. The oldest child was returned to her but the other four were put in foster care and her parental rights to the two youngest ones were terminated.
