The State Senate moves to make it a serious crime to tamper with a vehicle’s airbag – to isntall a fake one, or not install one at all after a wreck. Sometimes, says Seantor John Loudon of Ballwin, repair shops do not reinstall airbags when wrecked cars are fixed, but bill the insurance company for one anyway. Sometimes an old bag is installed. Loudon says that should be a felony because it endangers the lives of drivers and passengers.
