Mayers’ Goal Lifts Blues

March 26, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Jamal Mayers’ goal in the third period proved to be the difference for the Blues, who took a 3-2 win over the Ducks in St. Louis Thursday. Mayers scored at the 8:26 mark to break a 2-2 tie. It was just Mayer’s sixth goal of the season. The Blues tied the game twice thanks to power play goals from Pavol Demitra and Keith Tkachuk in the second period. It was Demitra’s 22nd goal of the season and Tkachuk’s 31st. In goal Chris Osgood stopped 24-of-27 shots, as the Blues moved back into a tie for 8th place in the Western Conference standings with Nashville. The top eight teams will advance to the playoffs.
