The effort to ban same-sex marriages in Missouri could soon be given the seal of approval by the State Legislature – a move that would send the issue to the November ballot where voters would decide whether a constitutional amendment should be put into place. One group that’s been formed to campaign on behalf of the effort is the Coalition to Protect Marriage in Missouri. Coalition member Vicki Hartzler, a former State Representative from Harrisonville, says the group hopes to raise awareness of this issue. The Coalition has filed official paperwork with the State Ethics Commission, giving the group the authority to collect contributons and spendmoney once the campaign gets into full swing.
