St. Louis Judge Accused Of Being Too Lenient

March 12, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

The prosecutor and a circuit judge in St. Louis are at loggerheads over sentencing and the prosecutor wants Judge Evelyn Baker to take herself off 150 criminal cases. The prosecutor says Baker is too lenient in her sentencing. Baker says the prosecutor sometimes proposes ridiculous sentences, especially for first-time drug offenders who are not involved in violent crimes. Baker has agreed to take herself off 46 cases so far, but has refused to recuse herself from nine.
