A move to crack down on those who prey on children to satisfy their sexual perversity is approved in the House. It’s part of a larger child pornography bill that has yet to receive a vote. Kansas City Representative Cathy Jolly sponsors an amendment that would make it a crime to induce a child into a sexual situation. Current law prohibits coercing a child into a sexually compromising situation. Jolly says prosecutors in Kansas City have complained that that leaves them with nothing to charge those who lure a child with toys, treats or pets … but never physically force the child to perform a sex act. More debate is expected next week on the overall bill.
