A State Senator who chairs a committee reviewing the state tax credit structure says arrests made in St. Louis might well spur change in Jefferson City. Senator Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood is co-chair of a joint legislative committee reviewing the state tax structure, with an emphasis on reviewing the more than 50 tax credit programs. Gibbons says the guilty pleas in the case of a St. Louis couple who ripped off the Rebuilding Communities program gives momentum to the committee’s work. Gibbons would like the committee to review the entire state tax structure, though he doesn’t believe that’s likely to happen. He does believe each tax credit can be examined. The Attorney General’s office says the couple is cooperating and might lead it to make more arrests.
