The first day of candidate filing at the Secretary of State’s office in Jefferson City sees three big names in Missouri politics file for Governor. Incumbent Bob Holden faces a challenge within his political party. He claims not to be worried either about the challenger or what affect it might have on the chance for Democrats to hold on to the Governor’s office. Holden’s challenger in the Democratic primary is State Auditor Claire McCaskill. Republican Secretary of State Matt Blunt has made his candidacy for Governor official as well.
