Senate Leader Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau has made it official. He is a candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Kinder is the second Republican in the race for the post. Former State Representative Pat Secrest of Manchester is also vying for the Republican nomination. On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Bekki Cook of Cape Girardeau is interested in the position as is Senate Minority Leader Ken Jacob of Columbia. There’ll be no incumbent in this year’s race. Lieutenant Governor Joe Maxwell had previously announced he would not seek re-election.
