Democrats Concerned With Forecast Of Low Voter Turnout For Primary

February 3, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Voters are heading to the polls today in Missouri’s presidential primary. The only real contest is on the Democratic side, with seven candidates looking for votes. State Democratic Party Chair May Scheve points out 74 of Missouri’s 88 delegates to the convention are up for grabs today. She reminds Missourians that ours is not a winner-take-all state, meaning the candidate finishing in second, third, or even fourth place can pick up delegates to the July convention. There is a Republican presidential primary, as well, but President Bush is expected to take all the delegates as he faces only token opposition.
