The war of words between Governor Bob Holden and Republican legislative leaders goes on, a week after the State of the State Address. The latest volley took placeat the State Capitol as Governor Holden addressed a crowd gathered for Child Advocacy Day. With House Speaker Catherine Hanaway and Senate Leader Peter Kinder lookingon, the Governor criticized the Republican-controlled Legislature for not embracing his tax hike proposals. Following the speech, the Governor told the Missourinethe flatly rejects suggestions that this strained relationship will stand in the way of any meaningful laws coming out of this session. Speaker Hanaway had saidpreviously that she could not work with the Governor.
