Governor Bob Holden’s State of the State message turns into a blistering attack on the Republican-dominated Legislature. After spending the first part of his speech talking about the state’s successes and his hopes for improve business conditions, Holden tore into Republicans for forcing major cuts in the education budget last year. He says the Republican actions last year were “cruel.” Republicans say the schools would have plenty of money if the Governor would release the funds he has withheld from them this year.
