St. Louis Congressman Richard Gephardt has all but confirmed he is bowing out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination following a disappointing fourth place finish in the Iowa caucuses. Gephardt, who picked up only 11 percent of the vote, finished behind Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts – the winner, Senator John Edwards of North Carolina – who placed second, and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean. In a post election speech to supporters at his headquarters in Des Moines, Gephardt vowed to support the Democratic Party candidate in any way he can. A formal announcement on his future is expected Tuesday in St. Louis.
