Lovie Smith is no longer the Rams defensive coordinator. The Bears officially introduced him as their new head coach yesterday. Smith Spent three years in the sunshine of Tampa as an assistant and three years inside the cozy controlled-climate confines of the dome in St. Louis. “Think of Chicago Bears football…you’re thinking about cold weather and short sleeves. Pounding the football in the elements”, Smith said at an introductory press conference in Chicago yesterday. This is Smith’s first head coaching job since he led high school teams in Texas and Oklahoma in the early 1980’s. Former Cardinal head coach Dave McGinnis is being considered as a replacement for Smith in St. Louis.
