State Auditor Claire McCaskill welcomes the news of a Republican contender for Governor. She had made her campaign official several months ago. McCaskill says it’s simply time for a change in the Governor’s office. McCaskill says she’ll also do a better job than Republican Secretary of State Matt Blunt because she has more experience where it counts, finding fat in state government so other areas such as education can be funded. McCaskill stops short of Blunt’s promise to increase education funding without raising taxes. She says Missourians could end up voting for a tax increase during her time as Governor, but it’s not something she’ll push.
