The Department of Natural Resources wants digging to stop at a radioactive waste site near Lambert-St.Louis Airport until flood control is improved. A DNR official has told the Corps of Engineers recent heavy rains might have washed some radioactive waste into a nearby creek. The Corps of Engineers is cleaning up the site which was a dumping grounds for decades. A Corps spokesman says tests show no radioactive material got into the creek.
