The quest to bring an affiliated minor league baseball team is moving right along according to Springfield businessman John Q. Hammons. He will have to buy an existing franchise and bring it to the area. Hammons doesn’t think that will be a problem, saying that four different teams have contacted him about a sale. He told the Springfield News-Leader that an official announcement for either a Double-A or possibly a Triple-A team would come sometime this year and that they’ll begin play in 2005.
