The Blues’ melt down was almost enough to melt the ice as well, but a gutsy performance turned near-disaster into a 7-4 win against the Blackhawks. Chris Pronger, Christian Backman and Pavol Demitra scored in the first to give St. Louis a 3-0 advantage. Mark Bell got Chicago on the board with 2:58 to go in the first. After the intermission, the wheels fell off for Blues goaltender Chris Osgood. Bryan Bernard, Kyle Calder Alexhei Zhamnov scored three goals off five shots in less than five minutes to start the second period. Goaltender Chris Osgood was pulled and Rheinhard Divis stepped in and stopped all 15 shots that game his way. Meanwhile, Scott Mellanby and Chris Pronger scored to give the Blues a 5-4 lead before the end of the period and never trailed again. St. Louis extended Chicago’s road winless streak to 14 games. The Blues will be in Montreal tonight.
