Kansas City area police departments have set up a task force of detectives to investigate a series of sometimes violent armed robberies that have been happening in the region since last month. Work begins Monday with the task force trying to determine how many of the robberies from December and this month are related. Police aren’t sure whether the similar hold-ups are the work of one group, several groups, or perhaps even some copycat robbers. The bandits are believed to be responsible for about ten robberies at taverns, liquor stores, and other businesses. All have been committed by men wearing hoods or masks, and have occurred in Kansas City, Grandview, and Independence.
