UMKC shot just 34% from the field last night but still came away with a 60-59 win over Valparaiso at Municipal Auditorium. Michael Watson, who’s eighth in the nation in scoring, pumped in 18 points to lead the Kangaroos. UMKC trailed 41-39 with 11:25 to go until Brandon Lipsey drilled a three-pointer to give the ‘Roos the lead for good. That was his only basket of the game, but he made up for his offensive woes with 11 rebounds. Mike English had 14 points and six boards for UMKC, as they improved to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They host Centenary on Saturday.
