The 243 school districts that launched legal action against the State over the education funding formula are getting some high level support for their action. Governor Bob Holden says he supports the efforts of the school boards and their concerns over inadequacies and inequities in funding. Holden blames the Republican-controlled Legislature for taking actions that have harmed schools in the state. Holden says nobody wants the courts in our classrooms, but he says it’s a choice between the courts intervening in school funding or the Legislature starving schools. And, he supports the legal action.
