Much talk as the legislative session begins in Jefferson City centers around the word bipartisanship. House Speaker Catherine Hanaway of Warson Woods pledgesto seek compromise with Governor Bob Holden, with whom she clashed over many issues last year. She says she’s even willing to consider ending the business tax incentives,something she resisted last session. The new leader of House Democrats, Representative Rick Johnson of High Ridge, has been known for high-profile partisan rhetoric. He pledges to tone down in his new leadership role. The session runs through mid-May.
