Blues head coach Joel Quenneville won the 300th game of his career last night in a 5-4 defeat of the Rangers. Only seven other coaches have reached the 300 mark faster than Quenneville, who’s coached 568 games. But he wasn’t necessarily thrilled with how the first period of his milestone was played. The Rangers controlled the better part of the first period, but St. Louis still escaped into the first intermission with the lead. Chris Pronger scored his seventh goal of the season at the 11:33 mark to tie it up at one-apiece. Then with less than a second remaining, Mike Danton scored to make it 2-1. The Blues never trailed. They got goals from Erik Boguniecki and Keith Tkachuk, while Doug Weight handed out three assists. In goal Rheinhard Divis stopped 39 of 43 shots to get the win. The victory moves the Blues two points behind the Red Wings in the Central Division.
