To say it was an emotion week for SMS junior Jenni Lingor is an understatement. On Monday she, and the rest of the team, attended her mother’s funeral in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Three days later she led the Lady Bears to a 72-33 win over SLU. Lingor was one of four players in double digits with 11 points. But Lingor didn’t just score—she flirted with a triple-double, pulling down eight rebounds and dishing out six assists. Nebraska-transfer K.C. Cowgill is making her presence felt in her first season with the Bears. She led SMS in scoring with 16 points and broke Lingor’s school record for consecutive three pointers, hitting nine in a row. Cowgill was 5-5 from the arc on Thursday, as SMS improved to 8-1 on the season and SLU dropped to 6-6.
