The UMKC Kangaroos had to be feeling good about their chances against Kansas State. Not that they had any past performance to back up that feeling. They were just 3-6 coming into last night’s game and the Wildcats were off to a 7-1 start. But something must have felt right, because they demolished KSU 93-52 at Municipal Auditorium. It was their first win over a Big 12 school since they topped Nebraska three years ago. Six ‘Roos finished in double digit scoring. Mike English and Michael Watson who put in 18 apiece led the team in scoring. UMKC went on a 21-10 run to start the game and never looked back, shooting 48% from the floor. They also took care of business at the charity stripe, hitting 32-39 free throws. Head coach Rich Zvosek, when asked how to describe the game replied, “Huge. Monumental. Give me a thesaurus.” The Kangaroos will open up Mid-Continent Conference play on Saturday at home against Oral Roberts.
