The SMS Bears just couldn’t get past Creighton last season and this year the Bluejays continue their dominance in close games. Southwest Missouri State lost 59-54 in Omaha. The Bears took a 31-27 lead after the first half, but managed just 23 points the rest of the way. The Bears didn’t make their way to the free throw line very often on Tuesday and didn’t take advantage of it when they did, hitting just 4 of 11. Meanwhile the Bluejays were 14-18 from the free throw line. Merrill Andrews had 17 points and Monwell Randle had 11—they were the only two Bears in double digit scoring. Brody Deren and Kellen Miliner had 11 apiece to lead Creighton. SMS fell to 7-5/0-2 while Creighton improved to 90/1-0.
