Grocery industry leader Ted Wetterau Junior has died at the age of 76. Wetterau was from Ladue. At one time, his company was the nation’s third-largest grocery distributor, serving more than 2,700 grocery stores in almost 30 states. In the 1970s, he was a key figure in the reorganization and strengthening of the Independent Grocers Alliance. He was Chairman of the Board for IGA at one time. Wetterau sold his company to SuperValu in 1992.
