The Missouri Retailers Association is not at all pleased with efforts by so many cities and counties to opt out of next August’s Sales Tax Holiday. AssociationPresident David Overfelt says officials with the cities and counties opting out are overestimating the amount of the revenue dollars that would be lost. Overfelt points out the August 13th through 15th Sales Tax Holiday will only remove sales tax from certain items – primarily school supplies. He adds retailers are hoping the tax savings will attract shoppers who will buy items not exempt from the tax holiday and will add tax dollars to local coffers.
