Reports that some wholesalers are offering emeregency flu vaccien supplies for three to five times the normal price have caught the eye of Attorney General Jay Nixon. Flu vaccine is in short supply in many places. The State Health Department says it got invitations earlier this week to buy flu vaccine at greatly increased prices. The head of the state immunization program calls the prices “opportunistic.” Attorney General Jay Nixon has his antenna out because it sounds like price gouging to him. Nixon says it’s not a matter of supply and demand. He says the price was set by the market months ago and some wholesalers appear to be exceeding reasonable price levels. Nixon says anybody who thinks they’re being taken advantage of should call his consumer protection hotline.
