The SMS Bears traveled all the way to Southern California and came away with only a tan. The Bears dropped an 80-66 decision to the University of San Diego, falling to 5-3 on the year and giving the Toreros only their second victory of the season. Last season’s success was predicated on having one of the best defense’s in the nation, but the Bears had no answer for USD, who came into the game averaging just 57 points per game. Monwell Randle was the Bears leading scorer with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Blake Ahearn scored all 18 of his points from behind the 3-point line.
