The State Transporation Departament is allowing the Ku Klux Klan to adopt a stetch of highway near Potosi. MoDOT continues court efforts to keep the Klan out of the program because of its history of discriminatory behavior. The courts have told the Department to let the Klan take part in the program. Signs will be posted on Highway 21 north of Potosi noting the Klan’s participation in the program. Department spokesman Jeff Briggs does not know how long those signs will stay up. The Klan has to clean the roadside twice every six months or it will be kicked out of the program. That happened to the Klan in Jefferson County.
