A state investigation has been started into operations of the Webster County Sheriff’s Department. The County Prosecutor had asked for the Attorney General’s office to run the investigaiton. Sheriff Ron Worsham has told the Springfield News-Leader it’s none of the state’s business how he runs his department. Worsham thinks the investigation stems from complaints by a couple of former deputies he fired. One of them plans to run agaisnt Worsham next year. Those running the investigation aren’t saying much about it. But the County Prosecutor says one element is based on a lawsuit filed by a rape victim against Worsham and a volunteer reserve officer. The lawsuit says the victim was hurt and her daughter unfairly imprisoned when the suspect in the case was taken to their home to pick up some property.
