If Blues fans went to bed after the second period they probably drifted off with a smile on their faces. However, those who stayed up to watch it tossed and turned with scowls on their faces. Chris Pronger, Keith Tkachuk and Bryce Salvador gave the Blues a 3-0 lead after two periods and seemed to be on their way to moving into a first-place tie with Detroit. But the Red Wings ignited in the third period, scoring four times to force a 4-4 tie. Steve Thomas got Detroit on board 40 seconds into the third. Steve Yzerman made it 3-2 at the 7:29 mark. Chris Pronger got his second goal of the game 1:41 later to give the Blues a two-goal advantage. Btu Pavel Datsyuk and former Blue Brett Hull scored 57 seconds apart late in the period to tie it. Chris Osgood was in goal, allowing all four Red Wing scores. St. Louis remains two points behind Detroit in the Central Division Standings.
