The Missouri Tigers overcame 14 first half turnovers–and 19 overall—to beat Coppin State 70-61 in their home opener. The Eagles took it to the 4th-ranked Tigers, leading by as many as eight points and taking a 32-28 lead into the locker room at half time. Coppin State held Mizzou in check with seven three-pointers in teh first half and hit 11-of-22 for the game. But Missouri gathered themselves in the second half 14-of-23 field goals in the final 20 minutes. Travon Bryant led the way for MU with 16 points and six rebounds. Arthur Johnson had 14 points and nine boards, sharing the rebound lead with freshman Linas Kleiza. Jimmy McKinney was the only other Tiger in double-figure scoring, putting in ten points and two assists. Mizzou improved to 2-0 on the season and will head east for a date with Indiana on Saturday.
