Colleges And Universities Benefit From $83-Million In Freed-Up Money

December 2, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri’s colleges and universities stand to receive a piece of the $83-Million in withholdings that Governor Bob Holden is releasing to education. $75-Million will go to public schools, but $8-Million will go to higher education. Quentin Wilson, the Commissioner of Higher Education, says the $8-Million total amounts to almost a third of the money withheld from higher education during the current fiscal year. He says that’s important because post-high school education is important to the future of the state. Wilson says all of the money freed up by the Governor will go directly to colleges and universities, with none of it headed to the Department of Higher Education.
