An effort is being launched in the Legislature to improve the lives of residents of the state’s mobile home parks. Senator Maida Coleman of St. Louis, the sponsor of the legislation in the Senate, says many of the rights extended to tenants of apartment buildings do not extend to residents of mobile homes. Coleman says the current laws allow landlords to evict residents from parks on short notice and provides only 60 days’ notice of park closings. The legislation would prohibit so-called “no cause” evictions and would require landlords to offer year leases to tenants. A House version of the bill will be sponsored by Representative Mike Sutherland of Warrenton.
