Members of Congress will have to wait until the new year before they get another chance to pass a comprehensive energy bill. The days before Thanksgiving saw Congress approve and send a Medicare prescription drug bill to President Bush, but they have been unable to reach agreement on the energy package. Senator Jim Talent, who supports the energy bill, says efforts must be made to convince some Senators to allow a vote on a package which will greatly benefit states like Missouri which produce ethanol. Talent says ethanol and biodiesel are excellent alternative sources of energy and reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil. He says the energy bill will give the country what it needs to fully promote these alternative fuels.
