Bond Dealt Blow By New GOP Governor

November 20, 2003 By admin Leave a Comment

Arnold one, Kit zero. Senator Bond’s effort to eliminate California’s new clean-air rules that target lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and the like, has been killed during negotiations on an appropriations bill in Washington. And credit for the defeat is being given to new California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who urged defeat of the Bond plan. Both Bond and Schwarzenegger are Republicans. Senator Bond says the new rule would cost the jobs of some Missourians working at the Briggs and Stratton engine plants in Missouri. Bond hasn’t given up. He’s now urging the EPA to examine the California rule.
