The SMS Bears advanced to the semifinals of the Guardians Classic thanks to a 63-42 win over San Francisco. The Bears made it through their region at the Hammons Center with a 2-0 record. The Bears and Dons battled to a 23-23 stalemate in the first half. In the second half, the Bears clamped down on defense, allowing just 19 points and held San Francisco to a 6-20 shooting performance. On offense Anthony Shavies dumped in 11 of his 14 points over the final 20 minutes, to lead the Bears in scoring. Tamarr Maclin was SMS’ savior on the boards, pulling in ten rebounds. Southwest Missouri St. will take on South Carolina on Monday night at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
